There’s Purpose In Your Calling
So… in the past year I’ve played a part in running my Church’s YouTube page & God has really been using the opportunity to serve in this capacity to show me His goodness.
I’ve found that just submitting to the Lord and asking for His guidance has led to Him doing the rest, that is bringing people to hear the preaching of His word. I design the thumbnails and write the titles - something that was on my heart for years but it wasn’t time for it to happen.
Each vision God gives us is for an appointed time, a time when He sees fit to release it. But we know that when we are given a word from God, we can trust and know that He will bring it to pass. He will do it in His time and His way. The Bible also says in Ecclesiastes 3:11, He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
So, there is such an assurance that we can have when we actually wait on God and we say, ‘Lord do things in Your way, in Your will and in Your timing'.’
I’ll focus a bit more on purpose. For each and every one of us, we have a purpose on this Earth and our purpose is linked to giving God glory in every single thing that we do & every single place that we go. The way that we live and the words that we speak are so important. Therefore, it’s crucial that we go back to God and ask Him, ‘Lord, what is my calling? What is the purpose that You have placed upon my life?’
When I think about the calling on our lives, it reminds me that it’s important to acknowledge that God is in full control of those particular callings. There is a purpose in everyone’s calling; it doesn’t matter how small or insignificant you might think that the calling is. It could be somebody who is a cleaner, but they are the best cleaner that a company has ever had. It could be somebody who is a dustbin man but that dustbin man makes sure that every single speck of dirt that is on the road is picked up, he’s the best dustbin man that the city has ever seen. It could be that somebody is a lawyer, and yes they might have a job that pays them a lot of money but it’s not about the money, their calling is to be a lawyer. As a result, they defend people, ensure they are winning their cases and make sure justice is given and that people are treated fairly in society. It could be that the person is a housing agent so they make sure that people are getting the houses that are just right for them and their family. They bring a smile to people’s faces. There is purpose in your calling! God can be honoured in every single calling that people have.
Colossians 3:23-24 says 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
This is an encouragement to say that it doesn’t matter how insignificant you might deem your service or calling to be. If Jesus is asking you to do something, there is a reason. He will receive all of the glory through your obedience to His call. It’s not about us, it’s about Him. So when He instructs us, may our response simply be “Yes, Lord.”
