Leaning On God

This organisation is called Streams of Beauty. The reason for this is that the focus is on the beauty that we can have on the inside of us, a beauty that is only accessible through a relationship with the Lord.

As we lean on Jesus and trust Him in all things, it means that we can walk through life knowing that we are walking in accordance to His will. The Bible makes it clear that the Lord is the director of our lives and so we have to keep being in constant communication with Him to find out what He would have us do next.

Proverbs 16:9 says, The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

We can make plans and we can think that we know the path to take. However, it is so crucial that we turn back to the Lord and ask Him which way He would have us go in life. It takes a lot of unlearning and intentionality to say, ‘Lord, what would You have me do?’ before you make a move. It’s easy to want to go your own way and make your own plans, but then as Christians we have to be intentional about stopping and reminding our hearts and minds that it is, in fact, the Lord that establishes our steps.

Leaning on God, also means being receptive to His instructions whether it be: yes, no, wait, go this way, do this, don’t do this etc. Sometimes, it might be the very thing you don’t want to hear but, ultimately, if God is calling you to do it then it is for your good and for His glory.

Romans 8:28 outlines that And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

As well as this, something that is so beautiful is that as you walk through life with the Lord, you can ask Him for the strength to walk in the way He calls you to. The path He calls you to isn’t one that you have to walk alone… walk that path with the Lord. Draw nearer to Him, dive deeper into His word and strive to walk in obedience to Him.

Something amazing that I heard this week, that really stuck with me, is that we should really dive deeper into the word of God. But when we dive into the word, we should read it to look for evidence of the character of God and read the word to learn more about Him. It’s not about us, it’s about the Lord! As we engage with the scriptures and see more evidence of the goodness of God, and His love, we will continue to fall more and more in love with Him.

This took me to James 1, where I realised that God is so kind that even our trials are an opportunity to rejoice. Trials are an opportunity for us to see that God blesses His people with endurance, He gives wisdom to us liberally if we have faith to believe He will give it to us and then when we have remained steadfast in the trial He gifts us with the crown of life. All of a sudden, life’s circumstances become an opportunity to see how loving, generous and kind the Lord is.

Streams of Beauty

Streams of Beauty is a Christian organisation that aspires to encourage young women in their walk with Christ. It is our mission to ensure every woman understands that, as a creation of the Lord, she is beautiful inside and out. Let’s continue, with the help of the Lord, to live every day of our lives for His glory.
